Tudung dan keje

with one comment

Aku terbaca dalam sebuah forum it yang amat popular di mesia, pasal sorang awek nih nak keje tapi sebab dia bertudung and islamic dia telah ditolak tepi.

Yang membuatkan benda nih cam bertambah panas suam di mana minah nih kutuk vb cakap bahasa nih ketinggalan zaman compare dengan php. Abis kena tiow minah nih.

Disebabkan minah nih apply keje sebagai jr programmer, memang amatlah pelik dressing amat dititik beratkan. Memang sepanjang aku bekerjaya tak pernah aku ngk minah techie ( programmer, system admin and so on ) yang cun lagi bergaya. Nak cun? Belasah laa consultant, memang terbaik dressing mrk and rupa pun leh buat bini.

Pasal programming language pun menarik gak. Tak sangka ader unsur flame yang menyebabkan beberapa individu terasa. Tak salah aper yang invidu itu rasakan. Pengalaman aku skang nih menunjukkan SEMUA programming language berguna. Agak kelakar laa pasal isu language nih lagi bagus dari polan and polan and polan. Lagi kelakar bagi seorang programmer tuh mengaitkan dirinya dengan programming language ( terlupa pasal low coupling kot). Programming language just a TOOL in solving problem. Pakai jer laa mana korang rasa sesuai and kena dengan jiwa korang.

Code simply a abstraction of steps in solving a problem and implemented using any tools that com can understand.

mikro blogging

without comments

Mula minggu nih, aku berjinak dengan twitter ( some people say this tools enable us to micro blogging ).

Selain memberi update pada semua orang pasal status kita, aku rasa kita leh jadikan benda nih cam sort of quick notes.

Since google tak support lagi favorite tools aku, google notebook on firefox.

  • then aku akan letak sekali url utk setiap benda menarik aku jumpa

Sebagai contoh:

  • great article related to #java #agile…. [link]

Benda nih memang takde privacy laa, semua orang leh nampak aper ko letak. So be mindful with anything that u put on ur status.

Aku dan environment

without comments

Beberapa hari yang lepas, aku dan solution arch ku berbincang pasal tajuk berkaitan bangsa. Tajuk yang racist, tapi aku rasa perlu dibincangkan. Rata2 orang cakap melayu nih bangsa pemalas!! (ohh tanda seruan nih sajer nak buat gempak).

And mrk rajin explore new things, tapi malangnya mrk tak berada pada tempat yang betul.

So kena lipat gandakan usaha lagi.

Pasal environment pun aku setuju. Memang aku akui semua orang mahukan safety and comfy zone berpanjangan. Saper taknak kan? Environment akan memungkinkan kita mencapai tahap yang lebih tinggi, takpun membuat kita break and give up lalu memilih jalan yang mudah.

So jalan mana yang aku pilih? And jalan mana yang anda pilih? Walaupun J berlainan bangsa, tapi dia adalah teman aku paling akrab di office aku. Kalo ader perkataan yang aku leh gambarkan dia adalah sometimes INSPIRING, and suka ngarut cam aku haha.

source control…but distributed

without comments

Sit has started since this monday and yet I haven’t heard anything related to my web app. This is worrying me considering the amout unit test I wrote. Much of my unit testing end up testing the dao layer. And I still havent figure out the best approach on testing the client side interaction, especially on ajax part. Well I guess tomorrow since I’ll be going to client side might as well I ask the test manager himself.

Going to client side pose some problem since;

  • source control, using svn meants U need to have connection to central svn server which turn out I dun have any.
  • creating patches, also its troublesome since I can’t track, commit changes to the svn server

So the only solution for now is to use GIT, and guess who its creator? Its no other the father of linux, linus torvald. Git pretty much like svn minus the central server. What makes it so great coz it have several bridge tools to integrate with SVN. So you can commit at ur local Git then put it into SVN. How cool is that?

smart working…only for smart people kot

without comments

Currently I’m in the midst of changing my timezone from GMT 0 to GMT +8. Its really hard considering the gaps between these 2 timezone. Hopefully I’ll be able to smart working from home after new year.

Doing project with people from different timezone pose many problems and some say, there also implicit benefit. Since the only way time I could initiate direct communication with the UK guys is around 5pm and onwards malaysian time. Prior to that, the only communication medium on my disposal is only a mail. Just imagine U got stuck with problems and u have to wait till the end of day just to get the answer. Not so pragmatic. But this might work if u were lazy on that day and simply needed some reason to justify why U didn’t do ur work.

I learned something useful back in UK. Its called smart working. Since all of the development team disperse all around the world ( 4 in uk, and 1 sesat in Malaysia), smart working I think might be the best answer to work. My PM argument is why u need to come to office if all the other team member is not there? So I’ll be proposing this idea to my PM here so I can work from home. This should help me

  1. reducing pollution.
  2. Saving cost on fuel consumption and toll fee ( yess takde laa kaya sami and valu).
  3. extend the interval between services for my car maintenance.
  4. save budget on meal. Home cook is the best.
  5. no more dirty laundry for my office cloth
  6. spend more time with the people that I love the most.

But this indirectly

  1. there should be extra cost on electric bill and other utilities bill.
  2. inconsistent in productivity. Too many distraction back at home.
  3. higher bandwidth usage. Since I need to use VPN to connect.

Maybe smart working is the new trend/ hype in these coming recession days. Everybody trying to save every single little pence/sen they have.

too many information…in short time

without comments

coding…read or write

without comments

I spend most of the time (roughly about 60% of my energy) reading other people code. Try to make sense all the abstraction created by other.

Much harder than writing code from scratch
