the legacy…..code?

without comments

Yes….seems I been idle since the last week, it would beneficial for me and the team if I could find something useful to do. To be more precise something that would be bring some value to the project. Hence the reason why I am and choosen to be with the team.

Frankly speaking I’m addicted to writing code especially test code. TDD bring much excitement in my career as a coder. But that only serve useful ( IMHO ) if you involve with the project from early stage. But what happen if you joining the project that already started for a few years? And to make things interesting the project doesn’t have any standard way of doing automated testing and unit testing?

Forget about doing TDD, how about doing automated test on legacy code? Hey I’m not that great programmer/coder to begin with, but it would be great to have a safety net each to make changes to the code. Yes the one that can be run as automated test.

Kegawatan mula dirasai

Jika anda tahu jika anda datang ke office tiada apa utk dibuat, kenapa anda perlu datang ke office?

Di sini saya senaraikan beberapa jawapan universal;

  • utk menunjukkan pada majikan saya datang kerja
  • sajer nak berlagak rajin
  • nak lari dari umah, isteri kuat bebel

Bila company dah start cutting budget, memang akan terasa laa keje berkurangan. Takde masalah sebenarnya kalo tengah idle since ko leh buat banyak benda lagi. Aku pun tak tahu kenapa aku agak emo sikit bila takde workload. Patutnya;

  • aku boleh study lebih
  • boleh buat keje sendiri tanpa kena tembak dengan sesiapa

Aku rasa maybe aku workholic. Anyway aku cuba biasakan diri dengan situasi begini dengan;

  • memperkenalkan automated test pada orang di sana. Tapi yang peliknya since code takleh difactor aku masih tak tahu aper jadahnya aku perkenalkan benda nih pada mrk?

VMware

without comments

All this time I did heard about virtualization but never thought using it on software development. It appear that we can create MULTIPLE Vmware which is good if you are thinking in terms of creating an environment for testing.

But bear in mind the limitatation of one hardware capabilities. Having multiple processor and lots of memory ( tons will be better ) do help making the VMware instance working much faster.

This is something I look forward to explore on weekend. Currently there’s no development work coming and out of the blue, I was assigned to do some system administrator work. Which is great!! As long I don’t bored myself to death.

P/S : Out of nowhere, all the suddently its there. Yeah you know what I mean, its the number 1 on my categories list. I did like thousand of times deleting it already
